Art Crawl

The Doo:zie team are teaming up with Design Circle RSAW South for a tour of the Cardiff Contemporary Festival this month. On the 24th we will be doing a tour of selected installations around the City centre with a few bar stops thrown in to keep the tradition of a good Doo:zie networking event alive.

Starting at Browns Bar at 18:00 we will be walking the route on the map, here are a few snippets of what we can look forward to:

2.The Beuys Pavillion
Inspired by the themes addressed by Maurice Halbwachs writings on The Collective Memory and Social Sculpture a term widely promoted by Joseph Beuys, the Beuys Pavilion provides a platform for artist and architect led activities. The passing public are invited to participate in creating works that aim to unfold and reveal a spatial framework for the city, through memory, response and emotional mapping.

3.Richard Woods
Inspired by the history of Cardiff Castle – and in particular referencing the momentous partnership between the 3rd Marquess of Bute and architect William Burges – Richard Woods has worked within the grounds to create an unexpected and humorous nod to the Castle's lavish and opulent interiors.

5.C I V I C
CIVIC is intended as an interrogation of the city, an invitation to propose ideas and interventions for Cardiff. CIVIC welcomes all visitors to experiment with constructing and rebuilding their own cities using a variety of materials. Participating artists have devised a wealth of activity for families to help participants re-imagine the city, including workshops in drawing, shadow puppetry, wireframe sculpture, and much more too – including a Phonebox Disco!

7.Barrack #23
Hosted by Design Circle; A site-responsive real time mapping project created during the festival and exhibited back to the public at Barrack Lane.
